John A. Heilman, 78, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in his residence.
A son of the late Augustus Heilman and Gertrude C. (Fenn) Heilman, he was born February 21, 1940 in Kittanning, PA.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He had been employed by B&W and Tool Co. among other area companies as a machinist before retiring in 2000. John was a member of Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Twp. and a life member of the Gilpin Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. where he served with the fire police. His favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch visiting and having coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sandra “Sandy” L. (Parks) Heilman of Gilpin Twp., PA; two sons, Paul Heilman (Paula) of Leechburg, PA and Mark Heilman of Gilpin Twp., PA; five grandchildren: David (Jenni), Amanda (J.D.), Logan, Jacob and LeeAnn; a great-granddaughter, KayCee; and two brothers, William Heilman of California and Thomas Heilman (Dottie) of Virginia.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 253 Forks Church Road, Gilpin Twp. with Pastor Elizabeth Arter officiating. Private interment following in the church cemetery.
