Frances A. (Waltenbaugh) Matson, 84, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Quality Life Services Personal Care Home in Washington Twp.

A daughter of the late Lawrence O. Waltenbaugh and Martha (Walker) Waltenbaugh, she was born April 11, 1933, in Girty, PA.

Frances was a homemaker and avid reader who enjoyed cooking and baking.  She had worked at the maintenance dept. at Leechburg Area High School and Cook Medical.  She was a member of Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Twp., the Order of the Eastern Star #277 (Past Matron), WELCA and the Gilpin Twp. Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Ronald B. Matson (Patty) of Gilpin Twp., PA; four daughters, Nancy Altman (Dale) of Gilpin Twp., PA, Patricia Wilmot (Michael) of Apollo, PA, Cynthia Moyer (Dean) of Watertown, NY, Christina Stewart (Joel) of Kirtland, OH; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Sloan (David) of Columbia Station, OH, and Dora Laughner (William) of Kittanning, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Blair Matson on June 24, 1977; an infant brother, Walter Owen Waltenbaugh; a sister, Margaret Pavetti; and a granddaughter, Rachel Matson.

Friends welcomed by her family on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) with additional visitation on Monday, Sept. 25, from 10 AM until the time of funeral ceremonies at 11 AM at the funeral home, with the Reverend Ronald Burkett officiating.  Interment following at South Bend Cemetery in South Bend Twp.  Donations in memory of Frances may be made to the Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 253 Forks Church Road, Leechburg, PA  15656.  Condolences to the Matson family may be offered at  www.clawsonfuneralhome.com.
