Ethel (Kupas) Hawk, 86, formerly of Leechburg, PA, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at Belair Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lower Burrell.
A daughter of the late Frank Kupas and Julia (Nagy) Kupas, she was born September 17, 1931, in Gilpin Twp., PA.
Ethel was a 1949 graduate of Leechburg High School. For nearly 20 years, she worked on the bottling lines by the Schenley Plant of Joseph S. Finch Company before becoming a sales clerk at the former Philadelphia Store in Leechburg. Ethel had also been employed at Allegheny Ludlum and finally as a personal care companion to the elderly for a number of years. She was a member of the Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg, serving as a past Deacon and Women’s Association member.
Beloved Aunt Ethel took great pride and joy in her many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, cooking and baking (especially Hungarian foods), sewing, gardening and playing cards.
Survivors include her 18 nieces and nephews; 18 grand nieces and grand nephews; and a sister-in-law, Margit M. Kupas of Allegheny Twp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Hawk in April 1982; three brothers: Frank A., Julius E. and James Kupas; three sisters: Elizabeth Losh, Velma Gemza and Ella Wargo; and a nephew, David Gemza.
Friends welcomed by her family on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11 AM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) with the Rev. Gary J. Lyon and the Rev. Lisa J. Lyon co-officiating. Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
