Darl William Minnich, 81, of Leechburg (Gilpin Twp.), PA, passed thru this life on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
A son of the late William Carl Minnich and Mabel Luella (Snyder) Minnich, he was born April 14, 1937 in Heathville (Jefferson County), PA.
Darl had been employed as a truck driver and he worked at Joseph S. Finch Distillery in Schenley before becoming a construction laborer with Local #952. He had also worked intermittently for his brother at the Boron service station in Leechburg. Darl was a member of Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Twp. and the Gilpin Township Fire Department, from which he received a 40-year service medal. He enjoyed cutting his grass and watching NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers.
Survivors include his two nephews, Franklin Carl Minnich Jr. and his wife Lisa and Charles William Minnich and his long-time companion, Traci Mitchell Rattay, all of Gilpin Twp., PA; a niece, Myra E. Minnich Kline and her husband David of Manchester, TN; four great nieces: Mari Davis, Julia Cantrell, N. Sommermae Frazier and Mariah Rattay; a great nephew, Trayton Rattay; 10 great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Carl Minnich Sr.
Friends welcomed by his family on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) followed by an 8 PM service officiated by his great niece’s husband, Dr. Louis Davis. Private graveside services and interment will be held on Sunday, September 2, at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
