Sherry A. (Winningham) Stapel, 71, of Allegheny Twp., PA, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in her residence.

A daughter of the late Byron Winningham and Monica M. (Robert) Winningham, she was born July 2, 1946, in Waco, TX.

Sherry had been employed as a secretary for 21 years working with the YMCA of West Vandergrift and also the VA Hospital in Aspinwall, having retired in 2010.  She was a 1964 graduate of Roseburg High School in Oregon and of the Presbyterian faith.  Sherry enjoyed gardening and antiquing in Lancaster, PA.  She loved her cat, Brea, and especially loved spending time with her daughter, granddaughters and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Robert S. Stapel of Allegheny Twp., PA; a daughter, Christine G. Frost (Mike) of Ashburn, VA; stepdaughters, Heather M. Schmitt (Mike) of Mars, PA and Heidi L. Heckathorn (Matt) of McCandless, PA; and a brother, Bill Winningham (Connie) of Jacksonville, Oregon.

Friends welcomed by her family on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).   Interment will be private at the convenience of her family.
