Rose A. (Paletta) Spencer, formerly of West Leechburg, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born November 3, 1921 in New Kensington, PA to Italian immigrant parents, the late Francesco and Maria Carmina (Filipelli) Paletta. Rose was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Leonard L. Spencer, in 2009; brothers, Leonard F. Paletta, John W. Paletta, and Francis X. Paletta; M.D.; sisters, Mary E. Romeo, Margaret P. Paletta, Teresa A. Griffith, and Edith P. Loffert.
Survivors include her children, Susan M. Spencer of West Leechburg, David L. Spencer of Natrona Heights, and Barbara L. Sutorka of Fort Pierce, FL.; a sister-in-law, Joanne M. Debor; grandchildren, Mark (Stephanie) Sutorka, Kari Villalpando, Brad (Linda) Sutorka, David (Michele) Spencer Jr., and Bridget Sutorka; and great-grandchildren, Rachael Croyle, Cody Villalpando, Phoenix Spencer, Ashlyn Spencer and Tyler Spencer. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as a beloved companion and loyal caregiver, Colleen Clark, and a number of extraordinary caregivers.
Rose led a life of deep devotion to her faith, family and home and was a long-standing member of Christ the King Parish in Leechburg. She was talented in making a home the best it could be to benefit her immediate and extended family, working diligently each day to accomplish that end. Her kind and loving manner with family and friends will long be remembered and treasured by many.
At her request, a private viewing for family members will take place at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 4-6 PM. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, November 23 at 10:00 AM, in Mount Saint Peter Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where Rose was baptized and married. All friends are welcome to join her family for the funeral Mass. Interment will be private at Union Cemetery, Arnold.
