Richard D. Suprano, 68, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in his residence.
A son of the late Guy “Huddy” Suprano and Caroline (Bierhals) Suprano, he was born April 13, 1948, in New Kensington, PA.
Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a craneman supervisor with Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge. Richard was a member of the VFW (Vandergrift, New Kensington, Lower Burrell), the American Legion, the Slovak Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Leechburg Moose and Oregon Hunting & Fishing Club. He loved cooking for any event at the clubs, and also enjoyed golfing and trips to Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include his daughter, Caroline Nicole Babik (Jared) of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Joseph Suprano (Fran) of Latrobe, PA, Eugene Suprano (Laurie) of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Vivian Petroff (Alfred) of Cheswick, PA; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Ann Suprano of Allegheny Twp., PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Suprano, brother Guy “Punky” Suprano; and three sisters, Elizabeth Gaurich, Christine Wadding and Mary Polczynski.
Friends welcomed by his family on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where a Celebration of Life will begin at 7 PM that evening. Private interment will be made at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave. #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222; or to the donor’s local Veterans Association.
