Matthew Thompson

Matthew Thompson, 53, of Washington, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

A son of the late William “Ben” Thompson and Emogene (Kerner) Salvucci of Washington, PA, he was born February 2, 1965 in Bradford, PA.

Matthew had been a self-employed, skilled mechanic and carpenter who crafted his own bows.  He loved different foods, going to camp, and being in the outdoors (especially hunting).  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, creating his model airplanes and being an auto racing enthusiast.  Matthew was a member of the Schenley and Washington American Legion Posts as well as the Leechburg Marconi Club and Sokol Club.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Emogene and George Salvucci of Washington, PA; his daughter, Trisha Thompson Denby (Van) of Palmyra, TN; a grandson, Hulstyn Denby; an Uncle, William A. Kerner of Leechburg, PA; his fiancé, Danielle Marsinetti of Leechburg, PA; and numerous cousins and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alvirda “Birdie” McIntyre.

A Celebration of Matthew’s Life will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 3 PM at the Marconi Club, 135 River Avenue, Leechburg.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Sons of American Legion Post #775, 383 Schenley Road, Leechburg, PA 15656 or to the American Legion Post #175, 168 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
