Kenneth R. Elliott

August 8, 1922 ~ March 15, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Kenneth “Ken” Roy Elliott, 94, of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.

A son of the late Everett W. Elliott and Florence M. (Wilson) Elliott, he was born August 8, 1922, in Murrysville, PA.

Kenneth was employed as an insurance agent for over 26 years with State Farm Insurance in Leechburg until his retirement in July of 1988. During World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 99th Infantry Division having participated in four major campaigns of the Battle of the Bulge, Remagen, Central Europe and Rhineland receiving three Bronze Stars among other medals.  Kenneth was a charter member of the Kiski Valley Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Twp. where he served as Elder Emeritus.  He was a World War II history buff who also enjoyed carpentry, traveling and being with his family.

On February 16, 2017, Kenneth and his wife, Mary Louise (Swank) Elliott celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.  Survivors also include a son, Thomas R. Elliott (Deborah) of Ford City, PA; a daughter, Marilyn M. Klingensmith (James) of Plum, PA; five grandchildren, Ken Elliott (Carrie), Melissa Bowser (Ryan), Megan Hooper, Katie Parsh (Mike), Brian Klingensmith; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy A. Weinel (Ron) of York, PA; former daughter-in-law, Bonnie Elliott Coutch of Leechburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Marie Elliott of Dunedin, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert K. Elliott; and a brother, Everett J. Elliott.

Friends welcomed by his family on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 AM  on Monday with the Reverend Allan Edwards officiating.  Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell with military rites provided by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kiski Valley Presbyterian Church, 115 Wilkins Street, Leechburg, PA  15656.
