Josephine L. (Livrone) Penone, 93, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
A daughter of the late Louis Livrone and Louise (DelConsole) Livrone, she was born March 25, 1924, in Leechburg, PA.
Josephine was a 1943 graduate of Leechburg High School. During World War II, she had worked on the bottling line at Schenley Distillery and also worked in Stamford, Connecticut. She then completed an apprenticeship as a florist in downtown Pittsburgh. She married Hugh P. Penone on May 21, 1949 in Leechburg. For over 30 years, she and her sister owned and operated the Livrone Flower Shoppe in Leechburg. She was a former member of St. Catherine Roman Catholic Church in Leechburg and a current member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Brookville. Her memberships also included the Marconi Club in Leechburg and the St. Catherine’s Ladies’ Guild. She enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing with her family as well as gardening, traveling, and cooking; and in the past, she enjoyed walking and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela L. (Penone) Brandon and dedicated son-in-law, Thomas M. Brandon of Brookville, PA; and a grandson, Jonathan Penone Brandon of Brookville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh P. Penone on January 19, 1978; and her sister, Pierina L. Perona on March 17, 2007.
Friends welcomed by her family on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051). Parting Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:15 AM on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Twp., with the Reverend Arnel Estrella officiating. Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Twp.
A memorial Mass will also be held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 129 Graham Avenue, Brookville, PA, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10 AM.
