John Nazaruk, 94, of West Leechburg, PA, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Mature Living in Allegheny Township.

A son of the late Tanas and Tekla Nazaruk , he was born April 3, 1922, in West Leechburg, PA, Westmoreland County.

For over 40 years, John was employed as a laborer for Allegheny Ludlum, West Leechburg, retiring in 1982.  He was a Seaman First Class and veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.  John was a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in West Leechburg.  He was also a lifetime member of the Marconi Club in Leechburg, the Sokol Club, the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter, Josie Hodnick (Bob) of Pittsburgh, PA; and a brother, Stephen Nazaruk, O.S.B. of St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Enrico) Nazaruk in 1984; two brothers, Metro and Mike Nazaruk; sister, Ann Zanotti and an infant sister.

There will be no public visitation.  Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Main Street, West Leechburg, with the Reverend John D. Gribik officiating.  Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Twp. with military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans’ Honor Guard.
