J. Merle Lowman, 74, of Allegheny Township, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016, in Mountainview Specialty Care Center, Greensburg, PA.

Born February 20, 1942, in Allegheny Township, PA, the son of the late John Dale and Mildred "Grams" (Lowers) Lowman.

Merle was employed for 25 years as a truck driver for McCutcheon Enterprises Inc., Apollo, PA; and was a police officer for Allegheny Township, PA where he also served as Chief for many years. He was a member of Holy Innocents Anglican Church, Leechburg, PA; a life member of the Allegheny Township Fire Department; and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Allegheny Valley Lodge #39. Merle enjoyed tinkering in his garage, drag racing, dirt track racing and watching nascar.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Nancy (Caldwell) Lowman, of Allegheny Township, PA; son, John Lowman, of OH; daughter, Stacey Deemer (Robert), of Apollo, PA; grandson, Dan Lowman, of OH; step-son, Michael Budosh (Stefanie), of Allegheny Township, PA; and step-grandson, Liam Budosh, of Allegheny Township, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Marissa D. Lowman, on October 24, 2014; and sister, Janet Simms.

Friends welcomed by his family on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724/842-1051) where the Fraternal Order of Police, Allegheny Valley Lodge #39 will hold a service at 7 PM and the Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 will hold a service at 7:30 PM.  Additional visitation will be on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of his funeral ceremonies at 11 AM at Holy Innocents Anglican Church, 366 Third Street, Leechburg, PA 15656, with his pastor, the Rev.
