Helen B. (Zemba) Safranyos, 90, of Leechburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at VNA Inpatient Hospice of Butler County.
A daughter of the late Andrew J. Zemba and Catherine Ann (Rusnacik) Zemba, she was born October 12, 1925, in East Vandergrift, Westmoreland County.
Helen was a homemaker and had been employed by the Hershey Chocolate Factory as well as the Andy Guard Factory in Oakmont. She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Twp. where she participated in the Ladies Guild, Bazaar Committee and Church Council. Helen enjoyed assisting the staff and residents at the Bishop Morrow Home for many years. Her interests included crocheting, baking, cooking and spending time with her family. Helen was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
Survivors include three sons, Frank J. Safranyos (Eileen) of Irvine, CA, James J. Safranyos (Christine) of Allegheny Twp., PA, Michael G. Safranyos (Marlene) of Allegheny Twp., PA; a daughter, Deborah Snyder (Richard) of Arnold, PA; a brother, Wendolyn Ronald Zemba (Eleanor) of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Luke Safranyos who died on January 8, 1995; five brothers, John Daniel Zemba, Frank Joseph Zemba, Andrew Joseph Zemba, Joseph Edward Zemba, Michael David Zemba; four sisters, Agnes Magdalen Zemba, Katherine Louise (Zemba) Curdo, Margaret Irene (Zemba) Peace, and Bertha Kathleen (Zemba) Sproul.
Friends welcomed by her family on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051). Parting Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Twp., with the Reverend Robert R. Byrnes officiating. Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Twp.
