Edith L. (Esposito) Chovanes, 95, of Troy, PA, formerly of Leechburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Troy Hospital.
A daughter of the late Ralph Esposito and Julia (Canzano) Esposito, she was born June 9, 1922, in Leechburg, PA.
Edith was a homemaker and 1940 graduate of Vandergrift High School. She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Twp., the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (C.D. of A.). Edith was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan who also enjoyed being active in her church, listening to polkas, dancing and going to McDonald’s with her friends.
Survivors include her son, Martin P. Chovanes Jr. (Anna) of Troy, PA; three daughters, Barbara Kasanicky of Ford City, PA, Linda Thompson (Richard) of Huntersville, NC, Denise Wasylink (Jeffrey) of Orlando, FL; two granddaughters, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Betty Esposito of Apollo, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Peter Chovanes on June 11, 1979; four brothers, Arthur, Ralph, Joe and John Esposito; four sisters, Martha Rossi, Antoinette Domyano, Josephine Shaffer and Amelia Klanica.
There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Twp., with the Rev. Fr. Arnel Estrella officiating. Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Twp.
