E. Mae (Schaeffer) Riggle, 95, of Washington Twp., PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at West Haven Manor Personal Care Home in Washington Township.

A daughter of the late Wayne Schaeffer and Melva (Knepshield) Schaeffer, she was born May 21, 1921, in Garretts Run, Armstrong County, PA.

Mae was a member of the St. Paul’s Highfield Lutheran Church in Parks Township where she was a former Sunday School teacher, church organist and choir member.  Before retiring in 1986, she had been employed as an administrative administrator for the County of Armstrong in the Veterans’ Office for 20 years.  Mae was a member of the Burrell Township and Highfield Senior Citizens groups.  She enjoyed gourmet cooking, sewing and playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include a son, Lynn A. Riggle (Connie) of Parks Twp., PA; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Klingensmith (Bruce) of Brick Church, PA; three grandchildren, Bruce Riggle (Tammie), Ann Stone (Dennis DanJou) and Joy Wisnom (Scott); nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Riggle on December 9, 1995; a son, Mark A. Riggle; and a sister, Lucille Schaeffer in 1929.

Friends welcomed by her family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 6-7 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral services will be held following visitation at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Richard Grance officiating.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Highfield Lutheran Church, 1595 Dime Road, Vandergrift, PA  15690.
