D. Jean (Boyle) Long, 76 of Gilpin Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Aspinwall.
A daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Kunkle) Boyle, she was born April 18, 1941, in Kiskiminetas Twp., Armstrong County, PA.
Jean had worked as a medical employee with various hospitals in the Pittsburgh area throughout her career. She was a 1960 graduate of Elders-Ridge High School. She was a member of the Gilpin Twp. Fire Dept. Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Twp. and the church’s women’s auxiliary. For over 15 years, she taught Sunday school at her church. Jean enjoyed cooking and baking.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Richard C. Long of Gilpin Twp., PA; a son, Mark C. Long of Lower Burrell, PA; two brothers, Robert Boyle (Cathleen) of Elderton, PA, and Hugh Boyle (Mary) of Elderton, PA; two sisters, Barbara Slack and Nancy Boyle, both of Plain Dealing, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Friends are welcome to attend her graveside service and interment on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, 253 Forks Church Road, Gilpin Twp., with the Reverend Larry Kemp officiating.
