Dominic J. Garda, 84, of Parks Twp. (Vandergrift) PA, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA.

A son of the late Dominic “King” Garda and Madeline “Dina” (Bolognia) Garda, he was born July 6, 1932, in Leechburg, Armstrong County, PA.

Dominic had been employed as a superintendent with Allegheny Ludlum (Bagdad) for 35 years.  He was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Twp., the Marconi Club in Leechburg, the VFW Post 92 in Lower Burrell, and the Elks Lodge #377 in Leechburg.  Dominic liked hunting, fishing, playing bocce, woodworking, making salami and playing the accordion.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Mottura) Garda of Parks Twp., PA; four sons, Dominic P. Garda (Deborah) of Columbus, OH, Phillip E. Garda (Marcie) of Cincinnati, OH, Michael A. Garda (Darryl Cook) of Columbus, OH, Martin J. Garda (Maureen) of Lower Burrell, PA; a daughter, Lisa J. Mathews (Thomas) of Pittsburgh, PA; eleven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and an aunt, Anna Cuffia of Parks Twp. PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Garda.

Friends welcomed by his family on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051).  Parting Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Twp., with the Reverend Raphael Glinkowski, O.S.P.P.E.  officiating.  Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Rd., Gilpin Twp.
