Betty L. (Duck) McGinnis, 85, of Lower Burrell, PA, formerly of Allegheny Twp., passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital in Aspinwall.

A daughter of the late Hazel (Duck) Shearer, she was born March 5, 1932, in Indiana, PA.

Betty was a homemaker and a nurses’ aide at Belair Nursing Home in Lower Burrell for 18 years before retiring in 1994.  She was a member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church.  In her earlier years, she was very involved in church activities having been a Sunday school teacher and working with the youth group.  Betty loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing cards, working word search puzzles and reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie L. Harmon (Frank) of Upper Burrell, PA and Carol L. Voyten (Raymond) of Gilpin Twp., PA; four grandchildren, Sandra McCool (Matthew), Leah Widmer (Jim McManigle), Andrew Voyten and Shawn Voyten (Jamie); and two great-grandsons, Griffen and Travis McCool.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Shearer; her husband, Robert Clair McGinnis on December 24, 1996; a daughter, Linda Widmer in 2003; and a brother, Gerald Rudell.

Friends welcomed by her family on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday with the Reverend Neal Galley officiating.  Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church, 195 Washington Ave., Vandergrift, PA  15690; or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PA Keystone Chapter, 1501 Reedsdale St. Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
