Alice K. (Knell) Hilty, 69, of Ford City, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

Born March 20, 1946, in Indiana, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Mildred (Yount) Knell.

Alice graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing School in the Indiana Area and was employed as a LPN for 22 years with Armstrong County Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2003. She was a member of Spring Church Lutheran Church, in Apollo, PA. Alice held various positions within the WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Organization where she was the former President/Vice President, Lay Supply for Southwest PA Synod of the ELCA, Prison Ministry at the Armstrong County Prison, Disaster Relief for Katrina participating in Camp NOAH, Faith Leader of Friends and the WELCA Program through her church participating with the Inner LIfe. She enjoyed being a hostess in which she brought many people together. Alice took great joy in hosting the annual pig roast at her home, traveling, camping, cooking, baking, attending her church and her work as a nurse. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William J. Hilty, of Ford City, PA; a son, David Hilty (Kristine), of Ford City, PA; a daughter, Sharon Rutherford (Mark), of Alabama; five grandchildren, Sasha Curry, Patrick Curry, Katrina Messinger, Leah Hilty, and Evan Hilty; a brother, Robert J. Knell (Esther), of North Apollo, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends welcomed by her family on Monday from 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724/842-1051) and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of her funeral ceremonies at 11 AM in Spring Church Lutheran Church, 3623 Lutheran Church Road, Apollo, PA 15613, with her pastor, the Rev. John K. Ludwig, officiating. Interment following at Brick Church Cemetery, Ford City, PA 16226. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alice's memory to Spring Church Lutheran Church.
